Poll shows California voters undecided on gaming

printer friendly
A Field Poll being released today shows that California voters aren't rushing to support two rival gaming initiatives.

Nearly half of voters said they opposed Proposition 68, which would allow non-Indian racetracks and card clubs to operate slot machines. Only 30 percent said they supported it.

The outlook for Proposition 70, an initiative to expand slot machines at tribal casinos, was equally bleak. Only 33 percent said they supported it while forty percent of voters said they opposed it.

Tribes are campaigning against Proposition 68, which would end their exclusive rights to slot machines. Most tribes in the state are backing Proposition 70, sponsored by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.
