Northern California casinos to bring in more slots

printer friendly
Two tribes in Northern California are planning to add more slot machines to their casinos under new compacts with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R).

The United Auburn Indian Community is already expanding its floor space at Thunder Valley Casino to make way for several hundred new machines. The tribe plans to have at least 2,200 machines on the floor.

The Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians has already completed an expansion of its Cache Creek Casino Resort. The exact number of new slot machines was not reported.

Under the new compacts, which were approved by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the tribes can offer more than 2,500 slot machines if they pay a fee to the state and share revenues with the state. Five tribes signed agreements in June.

Four other tribes signed similar compacts this month.
