Michigan group files appeal of land-into-trust case

printer friendly
An anti-gaming group in Michigan filed an appeal of a land-into-trust case on Monday.

Taxpayers of Michigan Against Casinos (TOMAC) is suing the Bureau of Indian Affairs to block a land acquisition for the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. The tribe plans to build a 144,000-square-foot casino on 675 acres.

A federal judge in March cleared the way for the BIA to take the land into trust but TOMAC is taking the case to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
