The city council in Wayland, Michigan, voted 6-1 to file a brief in the Gun Lake Band's land-into-trust case.
Casino opponents are trying to prevent the Bureau of Indian Affairs from taking 145 acres into trust for the tribe. Part of the land will be used for a casino.
The city council voted to file a brief, citing the revenues they will receive under the tribe's compact with the state.
