Soo chairman fails in bid to regain casino seat

The chairman of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians won't be allowed to rejoin the board of directors for the Michigan tribe's Detroit casino.

Aaron Payment was removed from the post earlier this month. An attempt to reinstate him failed by an 8-3 vote on Tuesday as he disputed that he has missed board meetings.

The new chairman of the Greektown Casino board is Fred Paquin. The tribe is the majority partner in the Detroit casino.
