Greektown Casino board chairman forced out

printer friendly
Fred Paquin, the police chief for the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, has been forced to resign from his post as chairman of the tribe's Detroit casino board.

Paquin, 50, became chairman of the board of directors at the Greektown Casino in August. He replaced Aaron Payment, who was removed for allegedly missing meetings.

Paquin himself was forced to leave last month after being accused of sexually assaulting a tribal member and tribal employee. He denies the charges but state officials pressured him to step down. He faces a trial in February 2008.

The tribe owns a majority stake in the Greektown Casino & Resort in Detroit
