Rosebud Sioux Tribe seeks $525K in contract flap

printer friendly
The Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is seeking $525,000 from its former gaming partner.

A tribal court ordered BBC Entertainment, which is owned by former tribal president Charles Colombe, to pay the money in a management contract dispute. But the tribe says Colombe has failed to abide by the ruling.

The tribe could go to federal court since the contract was approved under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. But attorney Dana Hanna said all tribal remedies have to be exhausted.

Under the contract, BBC managed the Rosebud Casino for 35 percent of net profits. A judge ruled that the company took more than it was owed.
