Daughter of NIGC chair works for casino developer

printer friendly
The daughter of National Indian Gaming Commission Chairman Phil Hogen is working for a developer that wants to build a casino for the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, The Oklahoman reports.

Vanya Hogen was hired by the Alan Wayne Company for a project that was announced last year. The company signed agreements with former tribal president Gary McAdams, who was voted out of office in July.

New tribal president Leslie Standing says the contracts heavily favor the company and is worried that the NIGC will look the other way because of the Hogen connection. But the agency says chairman Hogen has recused himself from matters involving his daughter's clients.

The casino would be located on five acres near a major interstate. The land has yet to be taken into trust.
