Cherokee Nation casino joins 'Hard Rock' family

The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma unveils Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa today.

The tribe spent $155 million to revamp the existing Catoosa casino and brand it with the Hard Rock name. The facility features five restaurants, five nightclubs and entertainment venues, a 125,000 square-foot gaming floor, 350 hotel rooms and suites, 35,000 square-feet of convention space and the Cherokee Hills golf course.

"It's a new form of entertainment for Tulsa," Cherokee Nation Entertainment CEO Dave Stewart told The Tulsa World. "It takes Tulsa's history of music; it takes the country and western piece of what Oklahoma is all about; and it combines it with the casino and the resort to be something that — there is nothing like it. It has a feel about it that is fun."

Cherokee Chief Chad Smith and singer Toby Keith will appear at the ribbon-cutting ceremony this afternoon.
