Seneca Nation shift plan for Catskills casino

printer friendly
The Seneca Nation has changed its plans for an off-reservation casino in the Catskills region of New York.

The tribe planned to ask Congress to approve the facility. But now the tribe will go through the Interior Department, the normal route for off-reservation casinos.

Larry EchoHawk, the new head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, plans to tour Catskills casino sites later this month or in September. He has not stated his policy on off-reservation gaming.
