Assistant secretary Larry EchoHawk will visit off-reservation casino sites in New York next Wednesday, The Middletown Times Herald-Record reports.

The Seneca Nation, the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe and the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians want to open casinos in the Catskills. The area is about 90 minutes north of New York City.

EchoHawk was invited to the area by supporters of off-reservation gaming. He has not stated his views on the issue.
