Morongo Band to push for online poker in 2010

printer friendly
The Morongo Band of Mission Indians will spend the next few months gathering more support for a bill to legalize Internet poker in California.

The tribe and some non-Indian card clubs were hoping to pass the bill this year but ran into some opposition. "The best option is to regroup and get it done in January," spokesperson Patrick Dorinson told The Sacramento Bee.

The California Tribal Business Alliance, a small group of tribes, and the Pechanga Band of LuiseƱo Indians oppose the effort. Some lawmakers also want to know how much money the state would get out of the deal.

The California Nations Indian Gaming Association supports the bill.
