Chickasaw Nation leads bids for racetrack

printer friendly
The Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma offered the highest bid for a racetrack in Texas.

Global Gaming Solutions, a tribal subsidiary, bid $27 million for the Lone Star Park. The purchase needs final approval from a federal bankruptcy judge.

If the deal goes through, the tribe needs approval from the Texas Racing Commission to operate the track. Texas law also requires majority ownership by in-state residents.

The tribe recently purchased Remington Park in Oklahoma for $80.25 million.
