Critic of Seneca gaming reaps benefits from casinos

Monday, February 15, 2010
Filed Under: Business Deals | New York

Susan P. Abrams, a member of the Seneca Nation of New York who criticized her tribe for going into gaming, now benefits from the business, The Buffalo News reports.

Abrams has received contracts to place artwork at the tribe's casinos. She also has sued gaming vendors in tribal court for alleged violations of the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance.

The value of the contracts with the casinos was not reported by the News. But the paper said Global Cash Access of Las Vegas, a manufacturer of automatic teller machines, paid her $430,000 to settle a TERO lawsuit.

Abrams also sought a $2 million contract from a casino architect. She said the company needed a Seneca partner in order to comply with TERO.
