The Pinoleville Pomo Nation of California plans to build the fifth tribal casino in Mendocino County, population 90,000.

The tribe gained state legislative approval for a casino with up to 900 slot machines. The compact awaits approval from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the tribe still has to secure financing and complete an environmental report for the project.

The tribe expects to start work on a $50 million casino sometime this year.
