Tigua Tribe converts shuttered casino into a free concert venue

The Tigua Tribe of Texas wants people to know that its gaming facility is still open even after all the legal battles with the state.

The tribe was forced to remove the gaming machines from the Speaking Rock Entertainment Center after losing a court case. The facility now offers vending devices and is offering free concerts in hopes of attracting more customers.

"We wanted to get the word out that we're still open. People think we're closed," general manager Karl A. Maahs told The El Paso Times.

The Labor Day weekend is packed with free shows from the likes of Dokken and Ratt. An even bigger event is planned for the Halloween weekend, when Korn rolls into town.
