Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association wraps up annual convention

About 1,500 people attended the 16th annual Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association conference and trade show last month.

OIGA Chairman David Qualls said the conference highlighted the impact of Indian gaming in the state. According to reports, tribes took in $2.9 billion at their casinos in 2008, a 5,000 percent increase in the last six years.

“It’s good for the whole state and collectively it’s estimated that the tribes are the fourth largest employer in the state,” Qualls told Indian Country Today.

Tribes shared about $120 million of their revenues with the state under Class III gaming compacts.
