Skokomish artist wins National Heritage Fellowship

Gerald Bruce Miller, a member of the Skokomish Tribe of Washington, has named a National Heritage Fellowship recipient by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Miller, known as Subiyay in the Skokomish language, has served as the tribe's cultural and educational director. Over the years, he helped bring back several tribal ceremonies and traditions.
Miller will receive a $20,000 cash award. The fellowship is the the nation's highest honor in the folk and traditional arts.
