Group files suit over problems Indian voters faced

The Four Directions Committee filed a lawsuit to challenge an election held in a city near the Yankton Sioux Reservation.
In a state court complaint, the group says some Indian voters weren't allowed to cast their ballots in Lake Andes. The suit alleges other irregularities in a city and school board election where some races were decided by very close margins.
Secretary of State Chris Nelson, named as a defendant, said he supports the suit. He said the incidents at the June 15 election deserve scrutiny.
Four Directions, a group seeking to increase voter turnout, plans to file lawsuits against the June 1 statewide primary and U.S. House election over claims that some Indian voters were turned away.
