National Park Service to donate firewood to tribe
Friday, October 22, 2004

The National Park Service is donating firewood to the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota.

The tribe plans to donate the wood first to the elderly and then to needy families. Officials say it will help low-income households that can't afford wood or other fuels.

Six cords of wood have already been cut. The wood comes from a forest thinning project at Mount Rushmore National Memorial.
