Mark Trahant: Vote early and avoid campaign sleaze

"I am vaccinated. I am no longer vulnerable to sleazy political advertising, last-minute campaign pitches or urgent pleas to vote this or that way. I already have voted; I am free.

For the next two weeks, the phrase "I am So and So and I approve this message" will be a limited background virus. No matter what they say, I can't catch it.

Some argue that voting early is anti-democratic; they like the notion of a community event where we all show up at polls together. (We can even get into the spirit of, say, Afghanistan and wait in line a few hours.)"
