Federal labor board to hold hearing involving tribe

The Teamsters union is using a controversial National Labor Relations Board ruling to seek a union vote on the Seneca Nation in New York
The NLRB will hold a hearing this Friday on a petition filed by the Teamsters Local 375. The union wants to organize at the Seneca Nation's casino.
In May, the NLRB overturned 30 years of precedent and ruled that it has jurisdiction over on-reservation tribal enterprises that employ non-Indians or affect non-Indians. Previously, the board only asserted jurisdiction over off-reservation businesses.
