Denver Post: Campbell missed final vote of career
Wednesday, December 15, 2004

Retiring Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colorado) missed the last vote of his career in order to make a speech in Denver and meet with a powerful gaming mogul in Las Vegas, The Denver Post reports.

The Senate voted on the intelligence reform bill on December 9. Campbell was absent for personal reasons, an aide told the paper.

But The Post said Campbell went to Denver for a previously scheduled speech to the Colorado Building and Construction Trades Council. After that, he flew to Vegas and had a three-hour meeting with Steve Wynn. A spokesperson would not say what the two men discussed.
