Publisher wants entire Thune meeting open to public

The publisher and owner of The Native Voice, an independent newspaper, is trying to get a meeting of tribal leaders and Sen.-elect John Thune (R) open to the public.

As it stands, only the opening and closing remarks of today's meeting are open to the media. Native Voice publisher Frank King said he thinks the entire session should be open to everyone.

The newspaper is helping to organize and moderate the meeting between nine tribes and Thune, who defeated Democrat Sen. Tom Daschle last month. The tribes endorsed Daschle.
