Aquash murder defendant to appeal extradition case

A Canadian man accused of murdering American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash says he will continue to challenge his extradition to the United States.

On Friday, a British Columbia judge recommended that John Graham be extradited to stand trial in South Dakota. The decision will be final on March 2, when the official extradition order is signed.

Graham, who is Canadian Native, is the second person charged with Aquash's murder. The first person, Arlo Looking Cloud, was found guilty but is appealing.

Aquash was Mi'kmaq from Nova Scotia and became involved in AIM during the 1970s. She was murdered on the Pine Ridge Reservation in December 1975. Her body was discovered in February 1976.
