Fire destroys former Native residential school

A fire has destroyed a former Native residential school on the Keeseekoose First Nation in Saskatchewan.

Natives have alleged they were abused at the old St. Phillips School, opened in the 1960s. The school eventually closed down and was converted to a day school. However, it hadn't been used in years since last Friday's fire.

Former Chief Ted Quewezance said some people on the reserve are viewing the fire as closure to the abuse they suffered.
