DeLay denies wrongdoing over Abramoff funded trips

In an e-mail to supporters, embattled House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) denied any wrongdoing for taking overseas trips that were funded disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff's clients, including the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
The six-page message was reported by news outlets. In it, DeLay said didn't know Abramoff -- and not the National Center for Public Policy Research, as he maintained on his public disclosure forms -- secured funding for the trips.
One trip to England and Scotland -- including a visit to a golf course -- was partially funded by the Choctaws. Afterwards, DeLay voted against a bill that the tribe opposed and then inserted into the Congressional record an Indian Country Today editorial that praised Choctaw Chief Philip Martin and his decision to hire "quality lobbyists."
