Oneida Nation students win science fair awards

Three students from the Oneida Nation Elementary School in Wisconsin won three awards at the 17th annual National American Indian Science & Engineering Fair.

Robert Thompson, an 11-year-old fifth-grader, earned first place for examining how bean plants grow. Layni Stevens, a 12-year-old seventh grader, received the Naval Award for Naval Research for a project involving popcorn. Kyle White, a 13-year-old eighth grader earned the Naval Award for Naval Research for his project that examined the density of water

The science fair is sponsored by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society.
