FSU preparing report on use of 'Seminole' mascot

Florida State University is preparing a report on the use of its "Seminole" mascot.
FSU is one of 30 schools nationwide that have been asked to justify their use of Indian symbols and imagery. The reports to the NCAA's Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee are due Sunday, The Orlando Sentinel reported.
FSU says its mascot is approved by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Other schools also say local tribes and tribal members approve.
At least two schools -- the University of North Dakota with its "Fighting Sioux" and the University of Illinois with its "Chief Illiniwek" -- have seen heavy opposition from tribes and Native activists.
