Red Lake shooting survivor leaves hospital

"It feels good" said Jeffrey May, 15, a survivor of the March 21 shootings on the Red Lake Ojibwe Reservation, on his last day in the hospital.

May suffered a serious brain injury as a result of being shot in the neck. He is still recovering his movements after suffering paralysis on his left side but doctors and caregivers at the MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, say his progress has been amazing.

"He has been an inspiration for a lot of other patients around here," Dr. William Klava was quoted as saying.

May's mother, Jodi, remains in the hospital in guarded condition. She suffered a stroke a month after the shootings, said to be caused by stress.
