"I don't know what's worse: spam or junk mail?

This morning, I start my workday opening my computer, so I can quickly delete 23 e-mails that have nothing to do with my job (unless, I really do want to arrange for a temporary bank account for my new friend in Nairobi).

But when I pick up my mail at home, I get one computer catalog, three bills and five pitches for new credit cards. Every day is similar: more exclusive invitations for platinum (all with an introductory interest rates of zero percent).

Today's credit card pitches weigh about 3 ounces. But what does that stack of paper cost? Where does that stack of paper go? And who pays?"
