Little Caesars founder backs Shinnecock Nation
Friday, July 1, 2005

Marian Ilitch, the founder of the Little Caesars Pizza chain and owner of sports teams and a Detroit casino, is backing the Shinnecock Nation of New York.

Ilitch signed an agreement to back the tribe's economic development efforts. For now, that means a lawsuit against the state over 3,600 acres of stolen land. The tribe says it will settle for a casino.

Ilitch is currently backing two California tribes in their bid to open casinos in Barstow.
