Herseth focuses on education during reservation tour
Wednesday, March 22, 2006
Rep. Stephanie Herseth (D-South Dakota) is leading a tour of two reservations in South Dakota to focus on Indian education.
Herseth will visit the Pine Ridge Reservation and the Rosebud Sioux Reservation this week. She is bringing Rep. George Miller (D-California), the ranking member on the House Education and the Workforce Committee, to hear from tribal leaders about their concerns.
"Congressman Miller is interested in seeing first hand some of the conditions faced by Native Americans in South Dakota, particularly when it comes to the education of children.
