Residential school survivors testify on settlement

Survivors of residential school abuse testified before a judge in Manitoba about a proposed $1.9 billion settlement.

Former students will receive a lump sum of $10,000, plus $3,000 for each year spent in the schools. Additional money can be sought for those with documentable abuse claims.

Judges across Canada are considering the settlement. At a hearing in Winnipeg, some former students said they opposed the deal.
