New Mexico voting machines speak in Navajo

Navajo voters in New Mexico will be able to hear the ballot in the Navajo language on election day.
The state has programmed some of the voting machines to speak Navajo. Zane James, the Native American election coordinator with the Secretary of State's Office, translated terms like governor, Democratic Party and Republican Party into the Navajo language.
The Navajo Nation began coming up with common terms used in elections several years ago.
A group regularly meets to update a translation booklet.
According to the state of New Mexico, there are 55,000 Native Americans who are registered to vote.
