Disenrolled Indians tie ouster to tribal greed

California Indians say greed is motivating tribes to kick people off the rolls.

Bob Foreman, the former chairman of the Redding Rancheria, was disenrolled two years ago. His daughter, Carla Maslin, said tribal leaders wanted more casino profits. She said she and her family questioned how tribal money was being used.

John Gomez Jr. was kicked out of the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians in 2004. He wants Congress to amend the Indian Civil Rights Act to allow tribal rulings to be taken to the federal courts.

According to tribal activists, more than 1,500 people from 23 tribes have been disenrolled in recent years.
