BIA names new director for Navajo regional office
Wednesday, March 14, 2007
Filed Under: Cobell | National | Politics | Trust

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has named Omar C. Bradley as director of the Navajo Regional Office.

Bradley is a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. He has worked for the BIA sine 1978, working throughout the Southwest.

Most recently, he was deputy regional director of the Navajo office in Gallup, New Mexico. Under the Bush administration's reorganization, his position changed to regional director for trust services.

Bradley replaces Elouise Chicharello, who came under scrutiny for rights-of-way on Navajo allotted lands. A court investigation found that individual tribal members received far less for use of their land than non-Indians and the Navajo government.
