Man acquitted for sexual assault of Native teen

A 26-year-old man was found not guilty of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old Native girl in 2001.
Jeffrey Kindrat was one of three men accused of raping the girl, who is now 17. The girl testified that she was given beer and assaulted after she ran away from her home in Saskatchewan.
Kindrat denied having sex with the girl. After the verdict was read, four Native women in the courtroom started yelling that he was "guilty."
Another man, Jeffrey Lorne Brown, now 30, goes to trial in October. A third man, Trevor Dean Edmondson, now 29, was convicted in May 2003 and was ordered to serve two years of house arrest.
