Yankton Sioux Tribe receives HUD, tribal grants

The Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota has received two grants for housing and development projects.

The tribe received a $500,927 Indian Block Grant Award from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The money will be used to refurbish tribal housing.

The second grant, of $1 million, comes from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community in Minnesota. The money will be used for a new community center and upgrades to the Fort Randall Casino.
