Apache woman to run for Rep. Renzi's seat
Thursday, May 10, 2007

Mary Kim Titla, a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe of Arizona, has announced her bid for the U.S. House.

Titla, a journalist and founder of Native Youth Magazine, will run for Arizona's 1st Congressional District. The seat is currently held by Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Arizona), who faces a federal investigation.

"I am ready to be a real voice for the people, and although I am a conservative Democrat, I intend to reach out and better serve all citizens of District -- no matter what party they belong to," Titla said, The Gallup Independent reported. "I want to hear from the people, so I will initiate a 'Hear The People Tour' when I make my official announcement. I'm listening carefully now."
