Senate hearing on Navajo water rights bill

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee is holding a hearing this afternoon on S.1171, a bill to settle the Navajo Nation's water rights.

The tribe reached a deal with the state of New Mexico. It resolves the tribe's claims to the San Juan River in northwestern New Mexico and the creation of a major water pipeline that will serve the reservation and surrounding communities.

The hearing takes place at 2:30pm and will be broadcast at http://energy.senate.gov/public. The witness list follows:
