HUD expands Indian service area to cover Idaho
Friday, July 6, 2007

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has expanded the Coeur d'Alene Tribe's Indian service area to include the entire state of Idaho.

The expansion will enable members of federally recognized tribes to apply for Section 184 home loans anywhere in the state. "The whole purpose of the program is to greatly (increase) home ownership for Native Americans," a HUD official told The Spokesman Review.

HUD has approved similar expansions in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Oregon and Wisconsin.
