New member for Senate Indian Affairs Committee

Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) has joined the Senate Indian Affairs Committee.

Barrasso was appointed to the Senate following the death of Sen. Craig Thomas (R-Wyoming). Thomas was vice chair of the Indian committee.

"As a member of the Indian Affairs Committee I want to ensure that we are addressing health-care needs, improving economic development interests and making necessary improvements to Indian education," Barrasso said, The Billings Gazette reported.

The committee is holding a hearing tomorrow on transportation issues.
