Campbell uses campaign funds to pay law firm

Former Sen. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colorado) used more than $20,000 in campaign funds to pay a Washington, D.C., law firm.
Campbell hired the Patton Boggs law firm in response to a Department of Justice investigation into his office.
His former chief of staff, Ginnie Kontnik, pleaded guilty for accepting kickbacks.
Campbell has already spent more than $150,000 in campaign funds on Patton Boggs. He said Kontnik's plea "ends" the investigation.
Campbell retired in March 2004.
