Rep. Renzi, under investigation, won't run in 2008
Friday, August 24, 2007

Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Arizona), a three-term Congressman whose district includes parts of the Navajo Nation and some Apache reservations, announced on Thursday that he won't seek re-election in 2008.

Renzi denied his decision was affected by federal probes of his activities. He was pushing for a federal land swap that would have benefited a financial partner even though the deal was opposed by Apache tribes.

Democrats are hoping to capture the district. Mary Kim Titla, a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, is seeking the nomination.
