Obama wins Maryland, Virginia and DC primaries
Wednesday, February 13, 2008

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois) won three primaries in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia on Tuesday, defeating Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York) in the Democratic presidential race.

Obama won 60 percent of the vote in Maryland, 64 percent of the vote in Virginia and a whopping 75 percent of the vote in D.C. Turnout was reportedly large.

The next major votes come in Ohio and Texas on March 4. Obama and Clinton are in a tight race, though Obama now has more delegates.

In other presidential news, Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona), the former chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, won the Maryland, Virginia and DC primaries. He has virtually won the Republican nomination.
