Alaska state troopers meet with Native village
Friday, February 22, 2008

The Alaska State Troopers sent a representative to meet with the Aniak Traditional Council after complaints of racial profiling and harassment by officers.

A spokesperson said the troopers aren't unfairly targeting Native residents of Aniak. But tribal council chief Wayne Morgan said the troopers are blaming Natives for using drugs and alcohol.

The tribe has asked the troopers to leave the village but that isn't an option, the troopers' spokesperson said. There are three officers stationed at Aniak.
