Sen. Dorgan vows approval of Indian Health Care Act

Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-North Dakota), the chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, says the Indian Health Care Improvement Act will be passed on Tuesday.

Debate on S.1200 resumes today. Dorgan says unanimous consent has been reached to vote on five amendments and to vote on final passage of the bill.

"February 26 will be a real day of celebration when we finally -- after 8 long years -- get that legislation through the United States Senate," Dorgan said in a February 15 letter to tribes [PDF].

According to the National Indian Health Board, debate starts at 5:30pm this evening. Check C-SPAN for coverage.
