Thursday, May 22, 2008

Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico has signed a three-year sponsorship agreement for the world renowned Santa Fe Indian Market.

As an artist, Gov. George Rivera said the tribe wanted to help the market and the Indian artists it promotes. The tribe is the first to sponsor the annual event, which takes place August 23-24.

"We are doing the right thing," Rivera said, The Santa Fe New Mexican reported. "We are helping Native American artists."

The partnership will promote the tribe's new Buffalo Thunder Resort, a Hilton property. The market will be titled Southwest Association of Indian Arts Santa Fe Indian Market presented by Buffalo Thunder Resort for the next three years.

The resort will open in August, just in time for the market.
