Low rate of cancer reported among Native children

American Indian and Alaska Native children have the lowest rate of cancer among children of all racial and ethnic groups, according to a new study.
Based on data from 2001 through 2003, the rate of cancer among Native children was 97 per million. White children had the highest rate, at 173 per million, followed by 131 per million for Asian/Pacific Islander children.
The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention led the
study, which appears in the June issue of the journal
Pediatrics.
